I've turned off the Microblog Module because it seemed too buggy. The forum can be used for similar post. Old post can still be found as regular blog post but the microblog timeline is gone. The follow/follower part of the moducle was just too buggy and there was no way to turn just that part of it off.
I have added a Captcha to try to reduce bot activity but also to make things more friendly toward people who want to post a comment but do not want to sign up. There is some content only available to people who register but I try to keep things in balance for obvious reasons.
