I have rewritten SAYWHATA from pascal to php to be played online. It is not quite as sophisticated as the pascal version but the basic game play is what is fun.

Saywhata is a five letter word game where you try to discover the word you are trying to guess by typing in other five letter words.

The word you are trying to figure out will have no letters repeating, but the words you use to solve the puzzle may. For instance, if you use the word sissy as a guess and the computer shows a match of three letters then it is obvious that the word you are trying to discover has an S.

While trying to discover letters in the word you will also be able to eliminate letters that are not in the word. If you type in the word sissy and it shows 3 letters match then besides knowing that the word has an S you will also know that it does not have an I or Y.

Keep a list of words that you have guessed and the number of letter that match. Write down the letters that you have figured are in the word you are trying to guess and the letters you have eliminated.

Once you discover the 5 letters that are in the word then you must continue guessing to put the letters in the right order and guess the correct word. Sometimes that is as difficult as coming up with the correct 5 letters.
