Suddenly a swat team swarmed into the police station where Spence, Gurdy, George, and Martha stood. Quickly, they entered an interrogation room and removed Joe Smith and Jake Douglas.
Martha stared at the handcuffs securing the arms of her two enemies behind their backs. As the two were led in front of Martha she asked the FBI agent who seemed to be in charge, "What is going on?"
The agent was familiar with Martha and in a slightly hushed voice told her, "These two have been blackmailing some people with high security clearance. They've been delivering classified intelligence information to Castro who in turn has been supplying it to the highest bidder among the terrorist he deals with. We believe their network is responsible for over 50 murders and missing person cases. If your husband had not come forward with how he had been being blackmailed and supplied the evidence that we needed, this arrest would not have been possible."
Billy Jameson walked in and looked at his wife. "I am so sorry. I have worked out a plea bargain. You will not need to endure my being put on trial."
"For what? Why would you need to plea bargain?" Martha asked.
"Drug smuggling. And murder."
"Drug smuggling is bad enough, but murder?"
"It was stupid. Sammy had found out about Joe and Jake's gang of blackmail victims. Sammy didn't know that I was one of the victims or maybe he did know and in his own way was trying to warn me. I don't know. But he told me that he was going to turn over what he had learned about Joe and Jake to the Justice Department. Rather than taking what he told me as a warning so I could get the hell out of the country, I fought with Sammy on my boat. You know the rest."
Martha screamed, "I can't believe you are guilty of murder. I refuse to believe that about the drug smuggling. Your best friend died from a drug overdose. I can't believe you would do that! This does not make sense. What these two idiots in the interrogation room were saying to me earlier doesn't make sense." Martha looked at Jake. "Why did you want me to arrest Joe for the murder? And then you reveal him to me as someone who has been working undercover. And then you tell me that my husband is involved in espionage and murder. It doe not make sense."
Billy looked at his wife. "These two are experts at blackmail. I'm not sure of the game they had planned for you, but you can be sure the goal of the game was blackmail."
In tears, Martha whispered to her husband, "You are protecting someone. Tell me who you are protecting."
Billy said, "Look, to start with I wasn't smuggling drugs. It was harmless contraband mainly being smuggled to avoid duties and other taxes. Then one thing just led to another."
"You are guilty. You aren't covering up for someone?" Martha added, "What am I going to tell your mother when I see her?"
"She will be in a witness protection program. You will never see her again. And I don't want you to ever see me again. I am so sorry."
Martha then stared as Jake, Joe, and Billy were escorted and got into the back of a van. Martha shook her head in shock. "His mother. Her boss. They must be the reason Billy got involved. I can't believe this. My life is over."
Gurdy said, "Please don't say that. Is there someone I should call to be with you? You do not need to be alone."
Martha stared at Gurdy. "I don't know you. Hell, I didn't even know my husband. Not really. Why are you being friendly? I can't trust you. I can't trust anyone."
Then Martha left the police station alone. Gurdy wanted to follow after her, but George stopped her. George told Gurdy, "She needs to be left alone to sort things out."
Gurdy said, "But we were brought to this police station for a reason."
From the other side, Steed and Molly whispered, "There has been a shift in time separate from what we were planning. We are so sorry."
Later Gurdy and George were told by authorities that their mother, sister, and nephew had been killed in a strange boat accident off of Cuba.
