George and Gurdy had said they were born around 1852. Yet, Steed and Molly found them in France at the age of around 17 when the year was clearly 1850. They had expected to find the parents of George and Gurdy before they were conceived, but instead they found the two almost grown.

Either one of two things had happened. Pehaps George and Gurdy were mistaken or lied about when they were born. The other possibility was that somehow in using the stairs Steed and Molly use to travel far time, they had crossed into some sort of parallel time. Could it be that the George and Gurdy in parallel time who were not Thinksters had been born at a different point in time? Steed and Molly did not have the slightest idea but it was obvious that George and Gurdy had been born around 1835 as opposed to 1852.

Among the many things that Steed and Molly had to wonder about was how Napolean III was somehow related to George and Gurdy becoming Thinksters. As they pondered these things it also occurred to them that Ellen also had a duel existence as a Thinkster and as a normal person. They had seen her spirit outside of the computer when the best they could figure she would have already become a Thinkster. None of it made sense. Life on planet earth was a puzzle they had about decided they would never figure out. But one thing was certain; they did not want to ever become trapped in the flesh on planet earth. It was a trap they feared would cause them to become even more lost in the confusion.
