What Days of our Lives Actress who played Lee DuMonde Carmichael Williams killed herself in 1982?

What Days of our Lives Actress who played Lee DuMonde Carmichael Williams killed herself in 1982?

Answer:
Brenda Benet (August 14, 1945 – April 7, 1982) A year following the death of her and Bill Bixby's 6 year old son from a rare throat infection that led to cardiac arrest, she shot herself and died.

She played Lee DuMonde Carmichael Williams from 1979-1982 as an arch villainous.

Benet was born Brenda Ann Nelson in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. She attended UCLA for a time. Her first acting roles were in 1964, with appearances on Shindig! and The Young Marrieds. She eventually became an actress very much in demand for roles in episodic prime time television in the 1960s and 1970s, including I Dream of Jeannie, Mannix, My Three Sons, Hogan's Heroes, Love, American Style, and The Courtship of Eddie's Father. She also had a major feature role in the film Walking Tall (1973).

She was married to Bill Bixby from 1971 until 1980. She was romantically involved with talk radio host Tammy Bruce who she broke up with 2 weeks before her death. Some rumors suggest she was also involved with a male costar of Days. On the day of Benet's suicide, Bruce thought that she would be meeting Benet for lunch. According to Bruce, Benet was locked inside the bathroom of her home when she arrived. Bruce thought something was wrong and went to get help. After Bruce stepped outside, Benet shot herself.

Bill Bixby would live 11 more years following the death of his x wife Benet and be married twice more. Bill Bixby (January 22, 1934 – November 21, 1993) was shortly married to Hulk costar Laura Michaels in 1990 or 1991 and divorced in 1992 at the same he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He married artist Judith Kliban in 1993, just six weeks before he collapsed on the set of Blossom. Bixby died on November 21, 1993, six days after his final assignment on Blossom as director. Bixby had directed most of the third season of Blossom.

What Soap Opera was Tommy Lee Jones on from 1971-1979?

What Soap Opera was Tommy Lee Jones on from 1971-1979?

Answer:
Tommy Lee Jones was on One Life To Live as Dr. Mark Toland.

Main part was 1971-1975. He did have an uncredited part in 1979 when they were finishing an earlier plot.

Primary Plot:
Dorian Cramer (Nancy Pinkerton, Claire Malis, Robin Strasser, Elaine Princi) arrived in Llanview in 1973 with her handicapped sister, Melinda [Patricia Pearcy]; the following year she and her married lover Dr. Mark Toland (Tommy Lee Jones) conspired to cover up their complicity in the death of patient, Rachel Wilson (Nancy Barrett). When the truth came out, Dorian was suspended from Llanview hospital; erroneously believing that Viki was partly responsible, Dorian vowed revenge. After becoming the private physician to Viki's ailing father Victor, she married him, and schemed to control his fortune. Dorian's machinations further fueled the enmity between Viki and herself. After Victor's mysterious death in 1976, the shadow of suspicion surrounded Dorian for decades.

----

Tommy Lee Jones, who in real life was the roommate of Al Gore at Harvard, first on screen success was playing the roommate of Ryan O'Neal's Oliver character in Love Story; Hank Simpson. One Life to Live did a variation of the Love Story plot in one of their earliest storylines and so there is no doubt that the producers were big fans of that movie. Some people say that Erich Segal in part based the Oliver character on Al Gore and Tommy Lee Jones themselves though I doubt that.

The part Tommy Lee Jones played on One Life to Live was far removed from Love Story. In One Life To Live, Tommy played Dr Mark Toland, a clean-cut medic. Okay, that is what you would have thought but don't you love the way Soap Operas develop their characters. Good guy. No, I don't think so said the female writer he wouldn't sleep with---(I'm just joking with that). Though you do have to wonder what motivates some of the writers. :-) Regardless, Dr. Mark Toland started as one type of character but had an ever increasingly obvious dark side. Marrying into one of Llanview's richest families, he quickly showed himself to be horribly mendacious, uncontrollably adulterous and eventually murderous. Today, instead of a Doctor they would probably have made his character a Golfer. (Just kidding. I like Tiger.) It was Dr. Mark Toland's penchant for blackmail that finally undid Dr. Mark Toland. Trying to shake some poor woman down, he was shot dead - ironically, he was mistaken for a different adulterer.

Tommy Lee Jones went from being a teenager working the Texas oil fields to Harvard and not being driven insane by Al Gore's constant bragging (Al Gore fans Iza just joking) to a brilliant career.

It was a Fox Show about an undercover police unit composed of young looking officers specializing in youth crime

Many of the scripts dealt with what young people go through on a day to day basis and used a cop show to show it. Issues like date rape, drugs, teen suicide, school violence and incest were all covered in the first two years of this show. When Jump Street premiered, it was the shot heard round the world due to the fact that it was the very first show to air on the Fox network, which at the time was only being broadcast on Sunday nights and it ushered in a whole new era in television. What nerdish son of what famous actor had success with his band of playboys in the 1960's?

What nerdish son of what famous actor had success with his band of playboys in the 1960's?

Answer:

Son of Jerry Lewis, Gary Lewis, had a band called Gary Lewis & the Playboys.

Gary Lewis was born in 1946, before his father reached the top of the entertainment world. By the time Gary Lewis reached his teens he had begun playing drums and leading a combo of his own, which included Dave Walker on rhythm guitar and Dave Costell on lead, Al Ramsey on bass, and John West on the cordovox (a kind of electric accordion).

The younger Gary Lewis and his band got a gig during the summer of 1964 playing at Disneyland, and that engagement, coupled with some urging by the elder Lewis, helped get the band a hearing from Snuff Garrett, a top producer based at Liberty Records.

Their first hit in 1964 was This Diamond Ring that co-authored by a young Al Kooper. Gary Lewis got some instrumental pointers from Buddy Rich. According to some the released song was heavily dubbed. That song was followed by other songs such as She's Just My Style and Everybody Loves A Clown. Then Gary Lewis was drafted into the armed forces in December of 1966, and an attempt at extending his career with recordings completed before going overseas failed.

Although some write that Gary Lewis was an unlikely success, he had many of the same qualities of his father that created a persona people liked. Regardless of any vocal range limitations, Gary Lewis had a nice quality in his voice that can still be enjoyed today as his band plays on.

Show Situation Setup:
Similar to "Married with Children" with nervous breakdown father Jack, whose life consists of a lousy job; a law-breaking, sex-starved wife; a sexy skimpily dressing daughter but smart with her eyes on an Ivy League school; a son who is described by some as idiot but that is not the way I remember the character; and Mr Floppy, the epitome of Jack's raging schizophrenia, physically embodied in the form of a boozing, chain-smoking, perverse stuffed gray rabbit with whom Jack consults for advice in the rabbit's basement playpen, where Jack inevitably secludes himself. The show was actually better than this description might imply with a lot of good one liners.

About Spike Character:
Before becoming a vampire in 1880, William was a struggling poet, often mocked by his peers who called him "William the Bloody" behind his back because his poetry was so "bloody awful." The true origins of this nickname were not revealed until three years after it was first mentioned in Season Two, when it was believed to have purely violent connotations. William showed a strong capacity for loyalty and devoted love, which followed him after his siring. After his romantic overtures were rejected by the aristocratic Cecily, a despondent William, while wandering the streets, bumped into Drusilla. She then bit him and transformed him into a vampire (it is stated in the Buffy episode "School Hard" that Angel was his sire; however, it is believed that the term "sire" can mean that Spike is simply "descended" from Angel, not necessarily that Angel sired him himself). Whereas new vampires in the Buffyverse often delight in killing their families once they become evil, William was a notable exception. Having always been very close to his mother, he turned her into a vampire to prevent her from dying from tuberculosis. Unfortunately, his mother, as a vampire, taunted William insinuating that William had always had a sexual fascination with her. He was forced to stake her because he could not bear to see his mother in such a twisted form. He would later write a poem about this traumatic experience entitled "The Wanton Folly of Me Mum," which was mentioned but not recited in the Angel finale "Not Fade Away".

Who wrote the original Lassie?

Who wrote the original Lassie?

Answer: Eric Knight
 ____
The fictional character Lassie was created by Eric Knight in a short story expanded to novel length called Lassie Come-Home. Published in 1940, the novel was filmed by MGM in 1943 as Lassie Come Home with a talented dog named Pal playing Lassie. Pal appeared in 6 movies as Lassie. Pal's owner and trainer Rudd Weatherwax then acquired the Lassie name and trademark from MGM and appeared with Pal (as "Lassie") at rodeos, fairs, and similar events across America in the early 1950s. The Television series Lassie lasted some 19 years and descendants of Pal have always been used to play Lassie.

_____

Eric Knight (10 April 1897 - 15 January 1943) He was born to Quakers in Menston in Yorkshire, England. His father, a rich diamond merchant, was killed during the Boer war when Eric was two years old. His mother moved to St. Petersburg, Russia, following her husband's death to work as a governess for the imperial family, the Romanovs who fell from power in 1917. She later settled in America. Eric Knight was largely raised by his Aunt and Uncle. He immigrated to the USA in 1912 and attended the Cambridge Latin School in Massachusettes to study art and music.

Knight had a full and adventurous life, from being in the Canadian Army during World War I, trying his hand as an artist, and later becoming a newspaper reporter and Hollywood screenwriter. His first novel was Song on Your Bugles (1936) about the working class in Northern England. As "Richard Hallas," he wrote the hardboiled genre novel "You Play The Black and The Red Comes Up" (1938). Knight's "This Above All" is considered one of the significant novels of The Second World War. Knight's last published work was "The Flying Yorkshireman" (1942), about an otherwise undistinguished man from Yorkshire named Sam Small, whose sojourns are reflected in a series of short stories with ethnocentric and eccentric observations of life around him.

Knight's most enduring story that is most significant in pop culture of course is Lassie. The story of Lassie came about largely as result of he and his wife raising collies on their farm in Pleasant Valley, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. However, the lush settings of the story are said to have come from his birthplace in Yorkshire England.

Knight was killed in 1943 in an air crash in Dutch Guiana (Surinam). Knight was a major and working in Special Services as part of the United States Army when his adventurous life came to an end. He died with 34 other people in the plane that is said to have been shot down by a Nazi Submarine in an attempt to kill FDR. FDR had left two days earlier on a different airplane for the Casablanca Conference.
